With 2013 in full swing, it’s time for Literature Wales to announce the judging panel for the Wales Book of the Year Prize 2013!

Chairing the English Judging Panel this year is the author and business advisor, Ffion Hague. Although some might recognise her as the wife of the famous politician, William Hague, she has received recognition for her literary work on her own merits.

Also on the English Panel is the popular fantasy novel writer and member of The Welsh Academy, Jasper Fforde. Jasper has received critical acclaim for his series of novels starring the detective Thursday Next. Completing the judging panel for the award this year is the poet, academic and literary critic Richard Marggraf Turley. Turley is a professor in the English and Creative Writing department at Aberystwyth University, and his poetry collection Wan-Hu’s Flying Chair was awarded the 2010 Wales Book of the Year ‘People’s Choice’ award.

The Welsh language panel for the prize this year include the writer and regular Golwg magazine columnist, Alun Gibbard, popular Radio Wales DJ Bethan Elfyn and the poet Elin ap Hywel who has also translated the poetry and prose of many of Wales’ writers.
